Canterbury Cathedral is seeking a methodical and detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to join our Finance Department on a temporary basis. This role is vital in maintaining the smooth operation of our purchase ledger and payment functions, supporting Canterbury Cathedral and associated charities. You'll also play a key role in preparing for the implementation of a new finance system.
* Process purchase ledger invoices: code, input, scan, and distribute for authorisation
* Ensure accurate VAT accounting
* Maintain and update supplier records
* Handle supplier queries and reconcile statements
* Make payments via BACS, electronic methods, or manual cheque
* Analyse aged creditors and credit card transactions
* Process petty cash claims
* Provide cover for the Sales Ledger function
* Assist with data cleansing for new systems
* Attend team meetings and training sessions
* Strong purchase ledger and bookkeeping experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
* Familiarity with computerised accounts systems
* Understanding of internal financial controls
* Numerate and highly organised
