Placement Student - Civil Engineering (12 Months) – Birmingham. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Start date: September 2026.

About The Team
Placement Student to join our Civils Practice within the Highways Business, bringing together civil engineering, drainage and pavements expertise.
Amey Consulting has been appointed by National Highways as a Design Partner to support the £3.6bn Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF).
We also work with government departments and local authorities across the UK on major highways projects, including the following examples:
* £1.5B A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project
* Belfast Rapid Transit (Glider)
* Liverpool City Centre Connectivity scheme
* M8 Woodside Viaducts Project
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Civil Engineering Placement Student, you’ll be challenged and inspired to reach your full potential while gaining insight into life at Amey. You will have the opportunity to apply for our Graduate Programme upon completing your studies. You will work alongside the team and contribute to the following:
* Plan and undertake bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
* Develop innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
* Prepare technical drawings and reports.
* Undertake numerical analysis and calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity.
* Propose strengthening and maintenance options.
* Deliver robust structural assessments to support safe, efficient, and optimal management of assets.
* Develop design options, drawings and reports using a range of software.
* Assist in producing technically sound engineering solutions.
* Carry out site surveys and supervise projects on site.
* Liaise with the public and stakeholders at exhibition events.
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines to meet shared objectives and add value to the team.

Requirements
We want to hear from you if you have:
* Currently studying a Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
* A full UK driving license.
