Job Summary

Lead Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist for Southwark’s Assertive Outreach and Rehabilitation Teams (AORT). Provide operational leadership to psychology and psychotherapy services across three AORT branches, deliver specialist clinical input, and embed trauma‑informed care using the Power Threat Meaning Framework.


Responsibilities

* Lead and operationally manage the psychology and psychotherapy team across the three AORT branches.
* Deliver highly specialist direct and indirect psychological input, including individual, family/network and group work.
* Administer, supervise and interpret cognitive assessments (e.g., WAIS‑IV) and feed back findings to service users and multidisciplinary teams.
* Support and lead trauma‑informed care and the Power Threat Meaning Framework within the teams.
* Provide clinical supervision and consultation to other psychologists and psychotherapists.
* Ensure effective systems for professional support and supervision of the team.
* Lead service evaluation, audit, research and policy development activities.
* Operate autonomously within BPS and HCPC guidelines, interpreting policies within defined parameters.
* Agree outcomes with clinical/professional lead and determine best pathways to achieve them.


Person Specification


Essential Qualifications

* Entry‑level qualification in Applied Psychology (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, MSc + PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology, or equivalent recognised by the HCPC).
* Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist with evidence of continuing professional development.
* Completion of a training course in CBT for psychosis (PG Diploma or equivalent) or equivalent evidence of supervised practice in a specialist area.
* Completion of a clinical supervision training course.


Desirable Qualifications

* BABCP accreditation.


Essential Experience

* Experience working as a clinical specialist in CBT for psychosis and family interventions for psychosis.
* Experience providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with complex needs, including psychosis and addictions.
* Experience supervising trainee and assistant psychologists.
* Experience delivering teaching and training to psychologists or other professional groups.
* Experience working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities.


Desirable Experience

* Facilitating team formulation meetings within multidisciplinary contexts.
* Using the Power Threat Meaning Framework directly or indirectly with service users.
* Facilitating group interventions for service users and/or carers.
* Facilitating reflective practice groups for staff teams.


Essential Knowledge

* Advanced knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for complex needs, including psychosis and addictions.
* Advanced knowledge of psychological assessment and clinical psychometrics.
* Doctoral level knowledge of psychological research methodology and complex statistical analysis.
* Knowledge of factors influencing the acceptability and accessibility of mental health care.


Desirable Knowledge

* Advanced knowledge of trauma‑informed care practice and the Power Threat Meaning Framework.


Essential Skills

* Deliver psychological therapy across cultural and other differences.
* Expertise in administering psychometric tests and supervising others in test administration.
* Effective communication of complex and sensitive information with clients, carers and colleagues.
* Good IT skills, including data entry and research data analysis.
* Teaching and training to professional groups.


Essential Abilities

* Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to team functioning.
* Managing emotionally stressful situations, such as working with victims of abuse or trauma, self‑harm or aggressive behaviour.
* Providing assertive outreach to people who are difficult to reach.


Additional Information

Salary: £72,921 to £83,362 a year per annum (incl. HCAs). Contract: Fixed term, 3 months. Working pattern: Part‑time. Reference number: 334‑CLI‑7534012. Location: Marina House, 63‑65 Denmark Hill, London, SE5 8RZ.
