We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experiencedUrgent Care Health Care Assistant who has a valid UK driving licence.
Our Urgent Treatment Centres treat a wide variety of illnessand injury across all age ranges. The HCA will work in a supporting role,providing high quality patient centred care under the supervision of the UrgentCare Practitioners and General Practitioners.
The Urgent Care Service also provides home visits by ourclinicians who require a Healthcare Assistant / Driver to transport them topatient homes across County Durham, and provide HCA support during visits.
In addition our HCA will provide a patienttransport service to support patient access to Urgent Treatment Centreappointments as required and following risk assessment by a clinician.
Main duties of the job
The HCA will carry out routine HCA duties, e.g. recordingobservations, taking blood and urine samples, monitoring and escorting patientsunder the supervision of the managing clinician.
The role also involves performing ECG recordings, carryingout minor dressings and applying immobilisation techniques such as splintsplaster-of-paris back slabs.
Other duties also include stock checks and restockingconsulting rooms and home visiting car as well as performing car checks.
Training will be provided as required.

From April 9th 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two yearsof experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to considersponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria andhave a current visa expiring within 3 months).
Job responsibilities
The role entails ensuring the patient is a prime focus whenproviding care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, such asinfection control and patient safety.
The HCA role involves communicating well with patients theirfamily and carers, fostering a reassuring and supportive atmosphere whilstpromoting positive physical and mental health.
The HCA will use initiative when responding tochanges in a patients condition within their own sphere of practice,recognising limitations and escalating concerns.

Qualifications
* Relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.
* Care Certificate or willingness to complete within first 6 months of commencement in post.
* GCSE equivalent in English and Mathematics.
* Short courses relevant to undertake patient and clinical care duties.
Experience
* Ability to learn new skills.
* Previous experience in caring for others.

* Good verbal and written command of English.
