Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

This role joins a team of Consultants responsible for the provision of Obstetric & Gynaecological services to the Health Board. The post is CTM wide but based in Princess of Wales Hospital with clinical activities across CTM. The service is delivered as two separate Obstetric Consultant led units (Prince Charles Hospital and Princess of Wales Hospital) and one Midwifery led unit (Royal Glamorgan Hospital).
Main duties of the job
* Ensure the provision of a first‑class clinical service
* Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
* Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
* Undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies
* Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the CSG and UHB's service plans
* Maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the CSG and UHBo Core clinical expertise in the speciality
* Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Support and train multidisciplinary team
* Deliver care in the acute hospital setting
* Participate in CPD including Audito A Teaching and Training Role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates
* Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff
* Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence‑based medicine
Person Specification
* Relevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
* Able to lead incident review meetings and risk management meetings
* Completion of Advanced Labour Ward practice Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) or equivalent experience
* Competent in laparotomy, diagnostic laparoscopy, management of miscarriage and ectopic for OOH work
