Opportunity for an experienced Transport Planning Technician to join our growing team in Bedford, MK44 3RZ.
Role Overview
As a member of the Transport Planning team, you will assist project managers and colleagues in preparing highway works drawings to support planning applications. Your responsibilities will include preliminary design of access and basic junctions (priority, roundabouts, signals), detailed review of site layouts including vehicle tracking, and developing access strategies for large strategic developments.
Your Responsibilities
1. Preparing concept highway layouts and Active Travel Routes.
2. Creating 2D highway and junction layouts in accordance with MfS and DMRB standards.
3. Undertaking initial access design for residential and commercial schemes.
4. Developing preliminary access strategies.
5. Supporting project administration and maintaining records.
6. Participating in site visits to gather information or observe existing conditions.
7. Collaborating within your team and with multidisciplinary project teams.
8. This is primarily a desk-based role, based in our Bristol, Cheltenham, or Bedford offices, with occasional site visits.
9. Experience in preparing concept highway designs in the UK is essential.
10. Proficiency with relevant standards including MfS, DMRB, and LTN1/20.
11. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Vehicle Tracking software (or similar).
12. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
13. Methodical thinking to design, plan, and organize project components.
