About Pathways to Work
The Barnsley Pathways to Work is a yearlong programme, with potential extension, set up in response to the Pathways to Work Commission Report, which aims to answer:
‘How can Barnsley enable all of its working age residents, particularly those further from the labour market, to achieve pathways to employment?’
SYHA has secured funding to support Barnsley residents who are economically inactive due to ill health or caring responsibilities, and young adults (18-24) at risk of not entering the labour market. There is potential for services to continue until 2029, subject to further funding.
We’re proud that SYHA will play a key role in supporting communities across Barnsley to find and thrive in work.
We provide tailored support through comprehensive health and work assessments, helping individuals overcome health-related barriers to employment. Our services are customized to each person's needs and circumstances.
We collaborate with mental and physical health teams, primary care networks, DWP, and VCSE referral partners to assist individuals facing workplace difficulties. Our services help individuals find, return to, stay in, or transition to new employment, with ongoing in-work support and access to local resources to improve wellbeing and re-entry into the workforce.
Our Health at Work Coaches play a vital role by providing one-on-one coaching, promoting self-management strategies, signposting to relevant services, and liaising with businesses. They also explore appropriate interventions to support employment and wellbeing goals through participant spend budgets.
We are a forward-thinking, values-driven housing association. For the right candidate, we offer a flexible role within a caring, supportive team, along with excellent benefits.
This community-based role is based in Barnsley.
