Senor Risk Manager

Purpose of the role
As the Senior Risk Manager, you will work with the Director of Enterprise Risk and the rest of the Group Risk team in developing and maintaining an appropriate risk management framework, and supporting its implementation across the Chief Risk Officer's organisation for adoption and deployment by the business.
You will coordinate activities of the Enterprise Risk team and act as line manager when needed.
You will support the development of the Group Risk team to provide increasingly effective challenge to the 1st Line (with a focus on Finance, Corporate Secretary and Legal), encouraging high standards of controls and proactive management of risk issues and events.
You will support other Group Risk team and 1st Line members in coordinating the operational risk scenario process in support of the Group's Internal Model and overseeing the operation of the Group's risk management system of record and other tools, working to reduce key-person dependency by supporting responsibilities' distribution within the Enterprise Risk team.

Key Responsibilities
You will support the Director of Enterprise Risk and the rest of the Group Risk team in developing, educating and embedding Enterprise risk management frameworks, practices, and Risk culture within Just that support our risk appetite and strategic goals.
You will provide trusted advice to the Director of Enterprise Risk, the Group Chief Risk Officer, Executives and senior management on implications of operational risk in the wider business context, with a focus on Finance, Corporate Secretary and Legal related risks.
You will act as senior business partner to those parts of the 1st Line assigned to you, including the attendance and support of Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings and associated risk reporting for those parts of the business and associated Group entities.
You will be responsible for providing pro-active operational risk advice, support and challenge to 1st Line management across the business, with a particular focus on oversight of management of the risks associated with change initiatives.
You will support the delivery of the Group's Internal Model for Operational Risk through the development and maintenance of operational risk scenarios with risk owners and other key stakeholders.
You will ensure that you and the business partners that you support are proficient in the use of the Group's risk management system of record and tools, and in supporting the business in the identification, measurement, management, monitoring, and reporting of risks at departmental level.
You will build a working relationship with the suppliers of our risk management system of record and tools. and ensure that you are sufficiently aware of its functionality to propose and oversee improvements as required.
If applicable, you will provide support to your direct reports in the development of their skills, knowledge and awareness.
You will take responsibility for ensuring you comply with the company's procedures, policies, guidelines and reporting requirements as well as any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
What We Are Looking For
Externally recognised risk management qualification is essential
Proven track record of practical experience of implementing and/ or operating risk management processes.
Significant breadth of experience and knowledge of life and pensions/ financial services.
Experience of risk support in change and implementation of large transformation initiatives.
Experience of risk support in Finance and Legal related initiatives and processes.
Commercially aware and committed to internal and external customer service.
Proven record of building strong internal partnerships within businesses.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiation, presentation and report writing.
Strong understanding of risk management practices and their application, including operational risk. Ability to identify emerging risk issues and to drive understanding and management.
Good understanding of regulatory context for operation of risk management, including Solvency 2 requirements and PRA expectations.
High level understanding of financial risk and capital management principles and techniques.
Awareness of IFRS and US GAAP accounting rules and strong knowledge of US SOX requirements and its application.
Strong analytical and critical thinking ability, able to interpret information from a number of sources and draw together the 'big picture' and bring a strategic perspective.
