Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Science Technician to support the delivery of high-quality science education within our school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to prepare, maintain, and organise equipment and resources for science lessons, ensuring a safe, efficient, and engaging learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, set up, and test laboratory equipment, apparatus, and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
* Support teaching staff during practical sessions when required.
* Maintain and store chemicals, specimens, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations.
* Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed.
* Ensure laboratories, prep rooms, and equipment are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
* Carry out routine checks, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Dispose of waste materials safely and in line with COSHH and school policies.
* Assist with risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
* Provide support for school science events, clubs, and activities when required.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Good knowledge of science subjects and practical techniques.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Awareness of health and safety in a laboratory environment (COSHH, risk assessments).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Reliable, adaptable, and detail-oriented.
Desirable:
* Previous experience working in a school or laboratory setting.
* Relevant qualifications in Science (e.g., A-levels, BTEC, or higher).
* Training in first aid, laboratory safety, or related areas.

Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £16.00 per hour
