Are you passionate about helping children prepare for the next big step in their education? We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a critical year of a child’s primary education, in a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated, one-to-one support to a specific student in Year 6 throughout the school day.
* Work closely with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver tailored learning activities and interventions.
* Promote the student's academic progress, social confidence, and emotional wellbeing as they prepare for secondary school.
* Create a supportive and engaging environment that encourages independence and resilience.
* Adapt resources and teaching methods to align with the student's individual learning style and needs.
* Monitor and assess the student’s development, offering regular feedback to the teacher and parents.
* Build a positive relationship with the student and maintain clear communication with staff and family members.
* Ensure all work supports the school's policies, safeguarding measures, and ethos.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
* Experience working 1:1 with children.
* A strong understanding of the unique challenges and needs of Year 6 pupils.
* Empathy, patience, and a calm, reliable presence in the classroom.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
* Adaptability and initiative to adjust your approach based on the student’s changing needs.
* Familiarity with effective support strategies and learning resources for individual students.
* Additional qualifications in education, child development, or SEND (desirable but not essential).
