We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a leading organisation within the UK defence and aerospace sector. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with senior stakeholders in a complex, high-performing environment where HR plays a critical role in delivering strategic objectives.
Due to the nature of the work, this role is open to British Nationals only and requires BPSS+ clearance (processed by the client prior to start).
The Opportunity
This is a true HR Business Partner position — acting as:
“The voice of HR within the business and the voice of the business within HR.”
You’ll operate within a large-scale, matrix organisation, delivering a full spectrum of HR support aligned to strategic business goals. The role focuses heavily on influencing, stakeholder partnership, change management, and embedding performance and talent processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with business leaders to proactively deliver HR value aligned to operational goals
* Provide expert guidance on HR policies, employment law, and best practice
* Drive annual people processes including Performance Reviews, Salary Reviews and Team Reviews
* Support managers through employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance cases
* Lead and support change initiatives with strong focus on the human impact of transformation
* Drive talent management and internal mobility initiatives
* Coach and develop leaders to build engaging, high-performance teams
* Monitor absence and support implementation of Absence Management processes
* Support recruitment activities including interviews and assessment events
* Produce monthly HR data packs (headcount, attrition, absence, etc.)
* Contribute to HR projects and wider business initiatives
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with HR professionals who thrive in complex, fast-paced environments — ideally within Defence, Aerospace, or similarly large matrix organisations.
Essential skills include:
* Strong influencing and stakeholder management capability
* Confident advising managers on policy and employment matters
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven conflict management experience
* High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
* Ability to challenge constructively and think strategically
* Strong Microsoft Office capability
* Ability to build credibility at all levels
Additional Information
* Monday–Friday, full-time
* Hybrid working model (minimum 2–3 days onsite in Stevenage)
* UK travel to other sites may be required
* Free parking provided (approx. 15-minute walk from site)
* Basic Disclosure (ÂŁ23 fee, reimbursed once contract commences) and SC clearance required prior to start
