Job Overview
Multi-Trader — Temporary role (minimum 3 months) covering voids contract in Southampton (SO) and Portsmouth (PO) postcodes with a maintenance contractor.
Pay: £24–£25 per hour.
Schedule: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
Perform work in void (empty) properties in the SO & PO postcodes, ensuring a finished standard ready for re‑letting. Tasks include:
* Like‑for‑like plumbing works
* Tiling (mainly splashbacks)
* Painting and decorating
* Patch plastering
* Second‑fix internal carpentry
* Kitchen fitting
* Bathroom upgrades
* General property maintenance
Complete daily worksheets detailing work and materials used. Work independently or with other trades as required, and work closely with schedulers and planners to meet SLA delivery. Advise supervisor when additional support is needed.
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence.
* Own transport – a van is required.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in at least one trade, or equivalent time‑served proof of skill.
* Experience working on voids or refurbishing empty residential properties, preferably in social housing.
* Extensive knowledge of maintenance and repair works.
* Proficiency in using a PDA; basic IT skills.
* SOR codes knowledge is desirable.
* Own 110 V power tools and hand tools.
* Ability to perform a wide range of general repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Adherence to company health and safety guidelines.
* Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, attention to detail, accountability, initiative, flexibility, and adaptability.
Electric and gas work is outside the scope of this role.
Working Conditions
* Temporary position, initial 3‑month period with possibility of extension.
* Own van is a must; own tools and transport are required.
* Parking available at job sites, or covered if unable to park nearby.
* Travel time for jobs outside the geographical remit may be paid.
