The Position
We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Critical Care Physiotherapist to provide clinical and professional leadership within the Cardiorespiratory stream.
This senior role combines advanced clinical practice with service development and staff leadership. The successful applicant will lead the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services across:
7. Level 3 Intensive Care Unit
8. Cardiothoracic surgery
9. Complex major abdominal surgery
10. Acute surgical wards
11. Preoperative surgical clinics
The position is primarily based at Malvern, with occasional support provided to the acute team at Brighton.
Key Responsibilities
12. Deliver advanced physiotherapy care in ICU, surgical wards and preoperative clinics
13. Provide leadership of the Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy stream
14. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
15. Lead quality improvement initiatives and service development
16. Supervise Grade 1 and 2 physiotherapists and university students
17. Contribute to staff performance management and professional development
About You
You are a dynamic senior physiotherapist with strong cardiorespiratory expertise, particularly in ICU and major surgical services.
You will have:
18. A Physiotherapy degree and current AHPRA registration
19. Significant experience in ICU and surgical physiotherapy
20. Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
21. Confidence in mentoring, performance management and service development
Desirable:
22. Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in a relevant area
23. Experience in preoperative surgical clinics
