Role Title: Lecturer in Skills
Location: Yale/Bersham Road, Wrexham
Contract Type: Permanent, Part time 0.5%
Salary: £33,596 - £51,932 (this is the full-time salary; salary will be pro rata depending on working pattern). Upper pay range points UP2 and UP3 are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Lecturer in Essential Skills to join our team in Wrexham. In this role, you will deliver high-quality scheduled teaching, prepare engaging learning materials, mark student work, and manage essential course administration (including registers, schemes of work, course reviews, and student reports). You will also liaise with awarding bodies and assist with exam invigilation.
Above all, you will excel in providing educational guidance, ensuring student safety and welfare at all times, and demonstrating a passionate commitment to student success.
You will also have a strong commitment to student success and a passion for teaching and learning.
Essential Requirements
1. A minimum of a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g Cert Ed/PGCE) or be working towards a Level 5 teaching qualification
2. Educated to a minimum Level 4 qualification
3. Proven experience in successfully delivering Mathematics is essential for this role.
4. A clear understanding of current developments within your specialist area and a commitment to keeping your knowledge up to date.
5. Knowledge of the broad range of learning needs and how to support these needs within a learning environment
6. Experience teaching and supporting young people who face extensive barriers to learning, alongside a strong knowledge of diverse learning needs.
Desirable
7. Experience in delivering English is highly desirable, though secondary to Maths.
8. Prior experience with Essential Skills Wales (ESW) qualifications is a distinct advantage.
9. Welsh language skills are desirable for this position
