Job Title: Post 16 SEN TA
Location: Newcastle
Salary Range: £84 - £108 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Daily Supply, Long-Term

Are you passionate about helping young adults with SEN thrive in their education and transition into adulthood?
GSL Education are delighted to present a fantastic opportunity for a Post 16 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and forward-thinking specialist provision in Newcastle, supporting learners aged 16–19 with a variety of complex needs, including ASD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties.

Role Overview:

As a Post 16 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored academic and emotional support to students with varying needs, including those with SEN, autism, or learning difficulties. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help learners develop life skills, achieve academic targets, and increase their confidence and independence in a structured educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support Individual Learning: Help implement personalised learning plans.
* Provide Targeted Support: Offer 1:1 and small group assistance tailored to student needs.
* Monitor Progress: Track student development and adjust support as required.
* Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with teachers, support teams, and parents/carers.
* Create a Positive Environment: Help build a space where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged.
* Engage Learners: Use a variety of strategies to maintain student interest and adapt to different learning styles.
* Keep Accurate Records: Maintain documentation of student progress and share insights with staff.

Job Requirements:

* Previous experience supporting learners with SEN, ideally within a Post 16 or FE setting.
* Communication Skills: Confident communicator with students, staff, and families.
* Empathy & Patience: A caring, understanding, and encouraging attitude.
* Team Player: Able to work collaboratively with others in the school setting.
* Qualifications: Educational qualifications are desirable, but passion and dedication are just as important.
* Safeguarding: A solid understanding of child protection and willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check (or have one on the Update Service).
