Overview
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting the Senior Chief and Principal Cardiac Physiologists to ensure the provision of high quality cardiac services and assisting with the day to day supervision of staff Specialist in all aspects of Cardiac Rhythm Management and Basic Cardiac Catheterisation. Provide managerial support to the Principal Cardiac Physiologist. Takes responsibility for junior staff in the absence of senior staff.
Responsibilities
* Provides clinical expertise in a broad range of investigations/procedures
* Takes an active role in the education, training and development of all junior staff, including medical staff such as registrars and consultants
* Demonstrate competence in the full range of cardiac investigations carried out by the department including supervision and training of staff of all levels from cardiographers and nurses to registrars and consultants
* To perform this role, specialist knowledge in cardiac rhythm management, specifically cardiac implantable electronic devices and basic cardiac catheterisation is required
* Perform a wide range of multidisciplinary highly complex cardiology investigations, with advanced knowledge in invasive cardiology and have the ability to disseminate highly sensitive clinical information appropriately to nurses, care homes, patients and relatives
* Pacemaker implants and will analyse device and patient interaction. Based on this analysis, the post holder will report to the implanting physician suitability (or otherwise) of electrode position(s)
* Carry out implantable device follow up clinics using dedicated device programmers and remote monitoring platforms, write comprehensive reports, make, and independently instigate pacemaker/device therapy prescriptions based on clinical findings and escalate any abnormal findings to the appropriate personnel
* Attend to perform ICD/CRT-D deactivations and device reprogramming independently and undertake ECG observation of patients during deactivation or reprogramming as required by clinical need
