Early Years Nursery Practitioner
* We are looking for a Level 3 Practitioner to work in our Day nursery
* We are open 7:30am - 6pm Monday to Friday
* Hours can be negotiated but will need to work 5 days a week - 38 weeks per
* Salary - Competitive, according to experience, paid over 12 months
* Start Date - Immediately
* 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year on top of the 38 weeks term time

Purpose of Role
* To assist with and take a shared responsibility for the welfare, safety, learning & development of children attending the nursery by working with initiative and creativity to foster an environment that encourages the children’s all‑round development.
* To work as a member of the team under the direction of the senior members of the team to ensure that children attending the provision receive safe, high‑quality care and access to exciting and stimulating learning opportunities in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS).
Main Duties
High Quality Provision & Inclusive Practice
* Plan and deliver stimulating, age‑appropriate activities that promote holistic development in line with the EYFS.
* Foster warm, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues to support a positive and nurturing learning environment.
* Liaise with parents on a daily basis, regarding the welfare, learning, and development of their children.
* Regularly observe and assess children’s progress, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date learning journals and contributing to tailored development plans.
* Encourage children’s independence, self‑esteem, and social skills through purposeful interactions and play‑based learning.
* Promote inclusive practice, providing appropriate support for children with additional needs or developmental delays.
* Create and maintain an inclusive environment that reflects and celebrates the cultural and individual diversity of all children.
* Act as a key person for a designated group of children, forming secure attachments and supporting individual learning and care routines.
* Participate in the nursery’s performance management review process and access any necessary training or professional development.
* Comply with all the nursery’s policies, procedures and requirements.
* Treat all staff, children and parents with courtesy and kindness.
Child Protection/Safeguarding
* Prioritise the safety and well‑being of all children by consistently following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
* Undertake regular Child Protection training at a level appropriate to the role, to ensure sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures and strategies to protect all children at all times.
* Share information relating to special educational needs of children and other children on care plans, in line with settings policies where appropriate.
Effective Working Relationships
* Collaborate effectively with team members to uphold the highest standards of care, education, and continuous improvement.
* Work co‑operatively with a range of outside professionals i.e. Ofsted, health professionals, Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Early Years professionals, to support and value an integrated service for all children and families, under direction of Nursery Manager.
* Demonstrate and model excellent practice. Work in partnerships with parents. Show respect for their contribution and involve them in their child’s learning, including support for their home learning environment.
* Engage in a staff development programme and meet agreed targets.
Health & Safety
* Assist in maintaining a clean, hygienic, safe, and well‑organised environment that supports children’s learning and well‑being.
* Support the completion of routine health and safety checks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Follow the control measures outlined in company risk assessments to minimise potential hazards.
* Adhere to hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH regulations to contribute to a safe and compliant working environment.
* Comply with uniform and personal hygiene standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and relevant policies.
* Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate person to help safeguard children, staff, and visitors.
Other Duties
* Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
* Engage in and attend regular supervision.
* Perform any other duties that your line manager sees fit, provided such duties are appropriate to your role.
Special Requirements
* Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
* Hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare, as required to meet statutory framework and regulatory standards.
