The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, well-structured Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A-Level. You will play a key role in inspiring students to develop their mathematical skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the subject. Key Responsibilities of a Mathematics Teacher: Teaching and Learning: Design and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons that motivate and challenge students at KS3, KS4, and KS5. Develop engaging schemes of work and lesson plans tailored to diverse abilities and learning styles. Foster a classroom environment that promotes active participation, problem-solving, and independent thinking. Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, including practical activities, real-world applications, and digital resources. Use diverse assessment methods to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support improvement. Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring they gain the necessary knowledge and skills. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere. Set clear expectations for behaviour and academic standards. Use effective behaviour management techniques to promote focus, respect, and collaborative learning. Ensure health and safety protocols are followed, especially during practical activities and assessments. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to review and enhance the Mathematics curriculum, ensuring it remains current, relevant, and challenging. Contribute to the development of resources, assessments, and intervention strategies to support student achievement. Support school-wide initiatives to promote numeracy and mathematical literacy. Student Welfare and Support: Provide pastoral support to help students develop confidence and resilience in Mathematics. Recognise individual learning needs and adapt teaching accordingly, working with support staff and parents as needed. Encourage students' personal growth through participation in extracurricular activities such as math clubs, competitions, or workshops. Collaboration and Professional Growth: Engage actively in departmental meetings, sharing best practices and innovative teaching ideas. Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes. Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with curriculum changes and new teaching methodologies. Key Skills and Qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential. Degree in Mathematics or a related field. Proven experience teaching Mathematics at KS3, KS4, and KS5, with a strong understanding of the curriculum. Ability to differentiate lessons to support diverse learners and assess progress effectively. Excellent classroom management and organisational skills. Passionate about Mathematics and capable of inspiring students' interest and confidence. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to team working.
