Job Overview
The role will work on the HS2 project, the UK's new high‑speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on existing railways and connecting eight of the UK's ten biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high‑speed services.
Costain is delivering the HS2 Rail Systems Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical and Electrical Systems works across the whole of the HS2 Route (HRS02). The scope includes design, supply, manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance (until handover) of tunnel and lineside M&E systems. It also involves designing, supplying, installing, testing and commissioning tunnel ventilation systems.
Reporting to the Engineering & Design Lead, the Requirements Manager works with project engineering and design teams and other specialists to elicit, understand, analyse and document the requirements for Package 2 of the HS2 Rail Systems Contracts.
Responsibilities
* Develop Requirements Management processes and procedures in line with Costain and HS2 requirements.
* Apply the Costain+ Requirements Management Plan and processes to elicit, analyse, record and verify/validate requirements for the Package 2 Rail Systems contract.
* Collaborate with design teams, subcontractors and subject matter experts to allocate requirements to asset‑level specification and determine appropriate verification and validation activities.
* Produce and submit Verification Validation Matrices (VVMs) to support the technical design assurance process.
* Report on the performance of the Requirements Management and verification process.
* Drive innovation in the requirements management approach.
* Foster collaborative working within the Requirements Management team and the broader project team through database management, team integration and workflows.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Experience using DOORS to manage project requirements.
* Strong communication skills.
Desirable
Previous experience on large infrastructure projects, multidisciplinary teams, particularly in civil engineering or rail.
Qualifications
* Appropriate professional qualification or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering.
