General Teaching Council for Scotland, Edinburgh. Starting salary £48,006 rising to £53,334 by annual increments. Full‑time preferred, but alternative working patterns can be discussed.

Job Summary
The Regulatory Solicitor plays a key role in ensuring best regulatory practice in investigations and adheres to the law. The role involves quality assurance of casework, developing infrastructure and internal knowledge base, and instructing external legal suppliers on fitness-to-teach casework.
Responsibilities
* Support the regulatory investigations and adjudication process, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
* Quality assure casework and develop internal procedures and skillsets.
* Instruct external legal and other suppliers for fitness‑to‑teach casework.
Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor with a full and unrestricted Law Society of Scotland practising certificate (or entitlement).
* Relevant sector experience and evidence of effective legal decision making and advice.
* Experience in regulatory casework or equivalent, preferably within a regulatory body.
* High quality written, research and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication with strong influencing and advocacy skills.
* Experience building and maintaining effective working partnerships with internal and external users and partners.
Working Hours & Pattern
Base on full‑time working hours of 35 hours per week; alternative needs may be discussed.
