Role: Test Engineer - Personal Safety Team (PPE)
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: upto £32,000 plus benefits
Are you an engineer with a mechanical background? Do you want a role where you'll be able to interact with people, as well as machinery?
BSI has a fantastic opportunity for a Test Engineer to join us at our Hemel Hempstead labs, working within our PPE testing team. Our Personal Safety Team works primarily with PPE, with three key areas - Latex, Headwear and Eyewear. You'll test a variety of products, from condoms, to equestrian helmets to safety goggles to ensure that they conform to required safety and quality standards. You'll need to be able to operate the machinery (including the ability to resolve day to day maintenance issues) record detailed testing results and also liaise with clients to advise the outcome of their product testing.

About You
A drive for development is key as you'll be given the opportunity to develop technical skills to work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment and standards or client bespoke requirements.
Ideally, you will have previous experience as a test engineer - or have worked in a mechanical discipline and/or have a Mechanical Engineering qualification
You'll be able to build relationships with clients, understand their requirements and then deliver this work autonomously. You'll also have strong interpersonal skills to confidently liaise with clients, and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service and on-time delivery on all work and projects.
You'll be resourceful and solution orientated, proactive and flexible, and have great attention to detail. If you have knowledge of Lean culture, it will prove beneficial
