Overview
About The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Library Officer to join our friendly and collaborative Content & Discovery team. This role primarily supports the Print Content Librarian and Metadata & Discovery Officer in managing the Library’s teaching and research print collections, as well as cataloguing a wide range of library materials, both online and physical. You will play a key role in stock review, cataloguing, and reclassification projects, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to other areas of the wider team’s work. In addition, you will provide support across the Library, Culture and Heritage division, assisting users both online, via our library chat service, and in person at service desks.
Responsibilities
* Support the Print Content Librarian and Metadata & Discovery Officer in managing teaching and research print collections and cataloguing a wide range of library materials, both online and physical.
* Lead stock review, cataloguing, and reclassification projects.
* Contribute to other areas of the wider team’s work.
* Provide support across the Library, Culture and Heritage division, assisting users online via chat and in person at service desks.
Qualifications / About You
* Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; proficient in IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
* Experience using computer systems for records management with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience in maintaining physical stock and cataloguing or metadata management, or the ability to develop these skills on the job.
* Previous experience in a library or higher education environment is advantageous.
