To support the ongoing growth of RBSL, we are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our busy finance team. Based at our head office in Telford, with hybrid working options available, the Senior Project Accountant will oversee the Challenger 2 Life Extension Project, which upgrades the vehicle with the latest technology to ensure operational readiness until 2035.
The successful candidate will interact daily with the project team, providing sound financial support and advice to the programme, and engaging with senior leaders. A confident, professional approach to stakeholder management, combined with strong technical accounting knowledge and a desire to add value, is essential.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct earned value management reviews of project costs and performance, providing financial support and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Evaluate processes to ensure robust financial controls are in place.
2. Provide accurate and timely project reports to meet the needs of the project team, finance management, and the wider group, including CSR, PFM, trading plans, key forecasts, and risk reviews.
3. Deliver value-added, robust financial services to the project team and continually review and improve processes and procedures to meet financial control requirements.
4. Ensure compliance with financial governance requirements, including the financial control framework, and seek continuous improvement of related processes.
5. Manage internal and external reporting responsibilities, including DefCARS reporting and inputs into quarterly reports for Rheinmetall AG.
6. Support Treasury in managing foreign currency hedging arrangements to de-risk currency exposure and monitor payment timings against deals.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACMA, ACCA, or ACA) with at least 2 years PQE.
* Experience in project accounting and IFRS15 is advantageous, preferably within manufacturing.
* Proficiency with finance systems; knowledge of SAP is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in stakeholder management, capable of explaining complex financial issues to non-financial audiences.
* Strong business partnering, communication, persuasion, and influencing skills across all levels.
* Strong commercial acumen and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in complex situations to support decision-making.
