We are seeking an experienced and compassionate registered nurse/AHP to join our team as a Macmillan Information and Support Manager at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. This is a part-time position (3 days per week – Wed, Thurs, Fri), offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
As the Macmillan Information and Support Manager, you will lead the delivery of high-quality, accessible information and emotional support services for patients, families, and carers. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that individuals receive the guidance, resources, and reassurance they need throughout their cancer journey
Main duties of the job
1. Manage and develop the Macmillan Information and Support Service at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
2. Provide expert, evidence-based information and emotional support to patients, carers, and families.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of support services.
4. Lead on service development, evaluation, and reporting to meet patient needs and organisational goals.
5. Supervise and support staff and volunteers working within the service.
Act as a key liaison with Macmillan Cancer Support and other partner organisations

Essential criteria
6. Registered General Nurse or Allied Health Professional
7. Degree level professional qualification
8. Post registration qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant subject
9. Evidence of Masters level learning or prepared to work towards
10. Advanced Communication Skills Training(or willingness to complete)
11. Level 2 Psychological Skills training (or willingness to complete)
12. Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
13. Computer skills course – e.g. Excell
14. Recognised counselling qualification
15. Leadership qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Relevant post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in cancer, palliative care
17. Experience of working with people with cancer or a life threatening/chronic illness
18. Experience of providing patient education and information in a health care setting
19. Management experience in speciality or related area.
20. Experience of providing person centred cancer information
21. Experience of a managing a team or service
22. Participation in service development and implementation of change.
