We are looking to recruit a passionate and committed individuals to join our BME CYP Team to support the delivery of our Cardiff Youth Work sessions. BME CYP Cardiff, Sessional Youth Support Worker (Male) Job Description Job Title BME CYP Cardiff, Male Sessional Youth Support Worker* Hours of Work 4 hrs per week (One evenings- Wednesday) Salary £ 2,742.85 pro rata (£24,000 per annum) Tenure Fixed Term till end of 31s March 2026 Responsible for Service Users, Volunteers Responsible to BME CYP Project Manager Location of Work EYST Cardiff Office and various locations around Cardiff Notes (*This is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010) Successful candidate will need to have an enhanced DBS and will need to prove the right to work in the UK Successful candidate will need to be willing to undertake a Youth Work Qualification To apply for this role please complete the online application. To deliver the EYST BME CYP Project in the Cardiff area according to the project plan 2. To support the wider team in the direct support to a case-load of BME young people and families on a one-to-one basis 3. To work effectively in partnership with agencies in order to improve outcomes for the client group Principal Accountabilities and Main Duties 1. To plan, organise and deliver after-school youth clubs and other project activities including trips and workshops, ensuring they are inclusive and participative 2. To ensure provision that accommodates the needs of young people 3. To work directly with BME young people providing them with appropriate advice, guidance, signposting and referrals on a range of issues from education and health to social services and welfare benefits. 4. To support the involvement of young people in all project activities, ensuring their safety, well-being, enjoyment and dignity. 5. To work as a team with other project workers and volunteers to ensure the safe delivery of all project activities. 6. To manage and support a caseload of up to 8 BME CYP from the client group, providing them with weekly support sessions, support and liaising with a variety of external agencies as relevant to their situation. 7. To support BME CYP through a whole family approach, undertaking home visits as necessary. 8. To actively engage with key statutory agencies such as the Social Services, Schools, Police, etc and act as a key worker as required. 9. To build active partnerships with other organisations to ensure effective cross-referral and effective pooling of resources as appropriate to give best possible service to the client group. 10. To liaise with key agencies and attend network events as appropriate in order to facilitate integration into mainstream provision. 11. To help deliver 18 awareness sessions and 3 Practitioner Learning Seminar each year to stakeholders & organisations. 12. Engage with and inform schools and other key statutory and voluntary sector organisations about the project and establish referral pathways General Duties 1. To ensure regular reporting and updates to partners and within EYST as required. 2. To ensure the collection, entry and return of information as required for monitoring and evaluation, input onto EYST CRM system (Charitylog) 3. To take part in training courses, staff meetings and regular supervision 4. To work within relevant health and safety legislation 5. To ensure that the project promotes and reflects equality of opportunity at all levels 6. T o ensure that EYST Safeguarding, Data Protection, Health and Safety and all other relevant policies are implemented. 7. To uphold the confidentiality of information of service users. 8. To carry out any other duties that may from time to time be required 9. Support EYST External Training Delivery when required Person Specification Essential 1. A minimum of one years’ experience working with BME Young people and/or families 2. Willingness to develop through introductory and continuous youth work training and qualifications. With an essential commitment to work towards EWC registration as a Youth Support Worker at level 3. 3. Experience of working with BME communities and community development. 4. Experience of working in partnership with statutory and voluntary organisations, and knowledge of local provision. 5. Knowledge, understanding and empathy for issues affecting children and families from ethnic minorities, including Refugee and Asylum seeker backgrounds. 6. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills (including both clients and professionals) 7. Ability to working under pressure in challenging environments 8. Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, and take initiative 9. Ability to comply with Health & Safety procedures in different environment 10. Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding including Digital Safeguarding issues. 11. Understanding and knowledge of Confidentiality 12. Organised and self-motivated 13. Excellent IT skills, confident using online engagement platforms including Zoom and Teams 14.
