We are looking for confident, adaptable and self‑motivated HCPC registered podiatrists, with excellent clinical skills, to join our team in the Trafford community.
The Podiatry Service in Trafford has an excellent reputation for innovation and excellence and provides a caring, and supportive working environment for staff. The team works towards improving health, reducing inequality, and providing the best services for a diverse population. The department offers specialist clinics in high‑risk, wound management, podopaediatrics, nail surgery and biomechanics.
Trafford expects podiatrists to take a proactive approach to managing a diverse caseload, using a combination of physical skills and empowerment techniques to provide an effective partnership with patients.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude towards personal and professional development and must show how their experience and skills meet the criteria listed in the person specification.
Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:00.
Main duties of the job
Plan, deliver, evaluate and modify specialist programmes of care for patients with complex medical conditions or social needs, providing advice to patients and carers in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies.
Carry out the initial triage and assessment of referred patients to determine acceptance into the service.
Provide subsequent specialist assessments to assist in the determination of medical/clinical diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans, utilising goals agreed with the patient.
Be actively involved in audit to ensure treatment is evidence‑based and to enable informed judgments regarding patient care and service development.
Support the development of a culture of accountability and governance at all levels.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Podiatric Medicine
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of postgraduate study relevant to specialism
* Student Accreditation
Experience
* Appropriate relevant postgraduate experience working in a community setting
* Evidence of working in a multi‑disciplinary team
* Evidence of working with clients with specialist needs
* Supervision of junior staff/students
* Clinical audit and standard setting
Skills
* Knowledge of current best practice within chosen profession
* Evidence of working with people with multiple needs
* Knowledge of issues relating to clinical governance
* Awareness of NICE guidance and care pathways
* Communication skills verbally and in writing to address physical, psychological and socio‑economic needs
* Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively
* Ability to undertake appropriate podiatry assessments
* Able to use clinical reasoning to make relevant podiatry diagnosis and formulate treatment plans
