A high-achieving secondary school in Outer London is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic History Teacher to join its Humanities department. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with flexibility for the successful candidate to begin the role in April or September 2026.
This position would suit a teacher who is passionate about bringing history to life in the classroom and inspiring students to develop a strong understanding of the past and its relevance to the modern world. The successful candidate will join a supportive department committed to delivering engaging lessons and ensuring students develop strong analytical, evaluative and critical thinking skills.
The school is seeking a teacher who is motivated to help students succeed academically while also encouraging curiosity, discussion and independent thinking. You will be expected to contribute to a culture of high expectations, excellent behaviour and strong academic outcomes.
The Role
As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students across the curriculum. You will work closely with colleagues within the Humanities department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning while contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
Key aspects of the role include:
* Delivering engaging and well-structured History lessons that motivate and challenge students
* Supporting students to develop strong historical knowledge, critical thinking and analytical skills
* Planning lessons that meet the needs of all learners and promote strong progress
* Monitoring student attainment and using assessment effectively to support improvement
* Creating a classroom environment that promotes respect, curiosity and active participation
* Contributing to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have strong subject knowledge in History and a clear understanding of the curriculum
* Demonstrate the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities
* Be committed to maintaining high expectations for behaviour, achievement and effort
* Show a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental development
* Be reflective in their practice and committed to ongoing professional development
