Medical Centre Lead Administrator

UK Defence Academy, Swindon, SN6 8LA

Permanent, Full time, 37 hours a week

Salary: £26,108.78 per annum plus benefits

Week 1 hours: Monday – Thursday 07:45 – 15:45; Friday 07:45 – 15:15. Week 2 hours: Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 16:30; Friday 08:30 – 16:00

Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post‑graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.

Serco has an exciting new role as a Medical Centre Lead Administrator at the Defence Academy. You’ll work collaboratively with the customer, becoming a key member of the medical support team in a very active, “Hands on” customer facing, rewarding role. You’ll support with admin tasks and support the Medical Centre Specialist Coordinator at the Defence Academy.


Key Accountabilities

* Process and despatch medical documentation and ensure that patient records are correctly maintained to a high standard, current and available when requested.
* Maintain the appointment system and manage daily clinics on Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP).
* Complete opening and closing checks for the medical centre and checks for the nursing team when not available.
* Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with promptly and that telephones are answered in the absence of other staff.
* Book dispensed medication when delivered from the Pharmacy and pass it onto patients, using the Gov notify text messaging service.
* Register/deregister patients onto the medical IT system (Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP)) in accordance with current DPHC policy.
* Complete training relevant to the role provided by Serco and Defence Primary Healthcare.
* Upkeep and maintain the patient appointment and referral spreadsheet.


What You’ll Need To Do The Role

* Previous experience of working within a Medical Centre or similar role would be advantageous.
* Previous Administration experience.
* PC literate, with experience in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Ability to cope under pressure.

This role will require an SC clearance.
