The Role
The University of Cambridge is amongst the leading places in the world for research and teaching in the physical sciences. The School of the Physical Sciences operates across a broad range of scientific areas, which are both integral to the scholarship and research of the University, and also of interest to external companies. This dynamic role leads the identification, planning and delivery of professional education and industry training opportunities with external partners.
Primarily, the postholder will focus on existing training programmes in data intensive science and AI and effectively managing the relationship with the associated industry partners. The role also involves line management of the Industry Engagement Administrator who supports project delivery for existing industry partners focussed on research and training. Potential exists to grow external partnerships, either by capitalising on existing relationships or creating new avenues to increase the volume and scope of industry training offered within the School.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role will be:
* an experienced, passionate, creative and proactive project or partnership manager
* an exceptional communicator who favours a consultative and collaborative approach and is able to work with a wide range of individuals from across academia and industry, including those at a senior level
* a relationship manager able to support existing partnerships, including working closely with multiple offices in the School and University to ensure appropriate management and support for the programmes in compliance with University policies
* able to identify opportunities to develop standard and bespoke programmes with academic and business partners from concept to implementation and evaluation
* a responsible line manager effectively supporting the Industry Engagement Administrator

This position is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in University professional services or as a stepping stone to or from another role. Familiarity with the physical sciences could be beneficial for the role but is not essential. This fixed-term role will provide maternity cover for the Industry Training Development Manager and is being offered as a secondment opportunity. The post is for up to 12 months or the return of the current role holder, whichever is earlier.
