Overview
As a Maintenance Person for Maria Mallaband care group you will be part of the care homes team and work with other staff to ensure the safety of all the Service Users, visitors and employees. The work can be physically and mentally demanding. The role mainly involves Health and Safety checks of the building, environment and equipment. You may need to go into residents’ rooms and be comfortable around people living with dementia. The Moors Care Centre is a care home in Ripon offering residents a safe and secure place to live, run by Maria Mallaband Care Group, with a team of trained, friendly staff who strive to give residents a welcoming, social and relaxing home. The care home provides up to 70 residents with a home from home and staff work in partnership with healthcare services to support residents’ health, social connections and participation in activities relevant to their interests.
Responsibilities
* Health and Safety checks of the buildings, environment and equipment.
* Work as part of the care home team to maintain safety for Service Users, visitors and employees.
* Engage with residents in a manner that is respectful and comfortable around people living with dementia.
Qualifications and requirements
* The Maintenance Person will ideally hold a relevant qualification or be willing to work towards one.
* Understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
* Ability to manage pressure, prioritise tasks and communicate effectively at all levels.
* Genuine interest in working in a care environment.
* General understanding of and empathy with older people.
* Ability to lead where needed and to work well as part of a team.
* Ability to work well on their own and manage time effectively.
* Clean Driving Licence.
* Ability to work in a homely, lively and exciting environment.
