An exciting opportunity has arisen to join CSU 10 as a ward manager on Victoria Ward at the Friary Community Hospital DL10 4AJ for a secondment period of 6 months.
Victoria Ward is a nurse-led ward admitting patients who require, palliative or end of life care, rehabilitation following surgery, monitoring of new drug therapy or convalescence to enable discharge plans to be completed. The ward only admits patients who are medically stable.
The post holder will hold 24 hour responsibility for the ward team with support from the clinical matron and deputy head of nursing. They will ensure that they lead and manage the ward so that safe, high quality, evidence based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers as partners in care.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for ensuring effective, day to day management of the ward to achieve safe staffing levels, deliver key quality, performance and financial plans and achieve service improvements. Leadership experience in this specialty would be advantageous but is not essential.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of progressive, transformational leadership, to drive a culture of quality care to improve outcomes and experience for patients who use our services.

1. Registered as fit to practice by Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
2. Degree/Diploma in Nursing
3. Specialist training to masters level
4. Highly developed clinical skills
Desirable criteria
5. Leadership and Management qualification L6/L7
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
6. Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex and highly sensitive information
7. Advanced clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills
8. Clinically able to prioritise and delegate effectively whilst working within acute/stressful situations
9. To provide expert clinical advice/intervention on specialist complex issues within own field crossing organisational and professional boundaries linking together interventions along the care pathway in accordance with national and local policy directives
10. Teaching skills
11. Demonstrates an ability to lead and manage a team to provide safe effective clinical care
12. Participate in regular clinical supervision

13. Evidence and experience of relevant continuing professional development and developing clinical practice.
