Background We are an established health and safety consultancy based in Glasgow. We are looking for a highly experienced Construction Health and Safety Advisor for an ongoing renewables project in the North East of England. Role This short-term contract role will be site based for approximately 6 - 9 months, MON - FRI 8.00 - 16.30. We require someone with significant experience, knowledge and skills in construction safety, preferably with renewables and / or utilities experience. We are looking for a candidate with the following qualities / qualifications: A degree in a safety, construction or design related field (preferable) NEBOSH Construction Certificate as a minimum CSCS Professionally Qualified card SSSTS / SMSTS (preferable) Experienced in UK construction safety and / or renewables Significant knowledge of the CDM 2015 Regulations Experience of working on site within a busy, customer focused environment Able to engage with colleagues and clients at all levels Develop strong working relationships Pragmatic and can work independently Full UK Driving License and willingness to travel as required Member of IOSH and APS (preferable) Job Type Full-time, Contract - Immediate Start Personal attributes Attention to Detail Ability to identify hazards and risks others may overlook Ensures all safety procedures and documentation are accurate and complete Strong Communication Skills Clearly communicates safety requirements to workers, supervisors, and stakeholders Delivers toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings effectively Analytical Thinking Assesses risks and incident reports to recommend practical improvements Investigates incidents methodically to determine root causes Approachable & Personable Builds trust with site workers to encourage the reporting of hazards or unsafe practices. Keeps track of statutory requirements and deadlines (e.g., Site Inspections, PPE checks, PTW, COSHH assessments, etc). Adaptability Quickly adjusts to different construction phases, contractors, and working conditions. Keeps calm and resourceful during emergencies or changes on site Commitment to Continuous Learning Keeps up to date with changes in legislation, regulations, and best practice Willing to attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training Integrity and Professionalism Upholds ethical standards and compliance, even under pressure to cut corners Maintains confidentiality and a professional attitude on site Experience Construction Health and Safety: Min 5 years (required)
