The role
As a Maintenance Planning Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a vital role in ensuring that critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards. This is a position that contributes directly to the readiness, resilience and operational capability of one of the UK’s most strategically important defence sites.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:
1. Supporting the Planning Specialist to maximise efficient use of resources across maintenance activities.
2. Creating, updating and maintaining planned maintenance tasks within the Enterprise Resource Planning system.
3. Issuing work orders for maintenance and reactive tasks, ensuring all prerequisites are met before work begins.
4. Liaising with maintenance teams to monitor progress, resolve issues, update schedules and process documentation.
5. Attending weekly planning meetings to review and reschedule maintenance to maximise berth availability.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 07:15 – 16:45 and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Maintenance Planning Engineer
6. Experience of planning procedures and processes.
7. Background in maintenance management.
8. Proficiency in MS Office.
9. Experience in planning and project management activities.
10. Understanding of process improvement techniques.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Planning Engineer
11. HNC in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
12. Additional engineering or maintenance‑related qualifications - Desirable
