ScottishPower are looking for people with practical skills, a passion for learning and the confidence to guide others — even if you've never worked in the energy industry before.
Whether you come from the Armed Forces, Construction, Engineering, Utilities or any hands‑on technical background, this structured 2–3-year programme will train you to become a fully qualified Craft Trainer in one of the main trade disciplines, Cable Jointing, Electrical Fitting and Overhead Line work.
Responsibilities
Learning to deliver high‑quality technical training to ScottishPower teams and partners, you will build strong skills in either, Cable Jointing, Electrical Fitting and Overhead Line work.
Working towards your TAQA trainer accreditation, you will develop your confidence in presenting and coaching others, gaining hands‑on experience with industry‑leading tools, equipment and procedures, stepping into delivering training independently once signed off by your mentor.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you don't need to have worked in power networks before — we'll train you.
This role suits people who have Technical, Mechanical or Electrical experience (any industry), who enjoy coaching, mentoring or helping others learn.
Confident with hand tools and practical tasks, you will understand the importance of safe working practices, can communicate clearly with different types of learners and hold a full driving licence.
You will also be confident in delivering complex theory via presentations to a wide variety to learners.
If you've been a Technician, Tradesperson, Engineer, Service Engineer or served in the Military — you'll bring valuable skills we can build on.
