Overview
This role seeks a self‑motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end‑to‑end across Thames Water’s operational sites and estate.
We expect you to manage all aspects of each CAPEX project, from initial scoping and competitive tendering to contractor procurement, site set‑up, inductions, health and safety inspections, commissioning, training and handover to the operations teams.
Responsibilities
* Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, each typically ranging from £100,000 to £1 million.
* Hold individual responsibility for multiple live projects simultaneously, while additional projects remain in scoping and tendering.
* Develop innovative and modern solutions to operational problems, increasing site efficiency and value for money.
* Work with operations teams and contractors to scope, define and cost solutions that are cost‑effective and low‑risk.
* Oversee adherence to a zero‑compromise health and safety policy, including monthly audits.
* Oversee construction in line with in‑house policies, industry standards, and CDM regulations.
* Collaborate with delivery partners and contractors to ensure schemes are delivered on time.
* Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards and professional codes of conduct.
* Financially forecast all live projects and report on the value of work done (VOWD).
* Draft, vet and approve pre‑construction information, project programs, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans (CPP).
* Oversee commissioning, training and handover of completed projects to operations teams.
* Ensure completion documents are available and handed over, including test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as‑constructed drawings.
Location and Working Hours
Base location can be Witney or Oxford; travel to surrounding areas is required, with on‑site presence 5 days a week. You will need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle with insurance to cover work travel. A car allowance is paid monthly.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Qualifications
* Preferably a background in Engineering, such as Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
* Formal qualifications within these sectors are strongly encouraged – ideally a BTEC/HND or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Clean Water Processing and/or Wastewater treatment is acceptable.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously: internal colleagues, site employees and external contractors.
* Self‑motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision, using initiative to deliver high‑quality work.
* Understanding of health and safety standards, particularly CDM; additional training will be provided.
* Experience in construction or engineering project management.
