A specialist school in High Wycombe is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The school supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and some social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The environment is structured, supportive, and very focused on helping students develop independence and life skills alongside their academic progress. In this role, you’ll be working closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom. The setting places a strong emphasis on building positive relationships, consistency, and creating a calm, engaging learning environment where students feel safe and understood. You may be supporting small groups or working 1:1 with students who need additional guidance to stay engaged and regulate their emotions. Responsibilities Supporting students with a range of SEN needs in lessons and around the school Working 1:1 or in small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence Helping to manage behaviour in a calm, positive and consistent way Supporting communication and social development Assisting the teacher with planning, preparation and classroom organisation Requirements Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or similar) A patient, resilient and proactive approach Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs Right to work in the UK At Supply Hive, safeguarding is a top priority.
