This Accountancy business is a modern and successful accountancy practice based in Fife, offering a highly personalised and professional service to our clients. We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper and/or Finance Officer to join our supportive and growing team. About the Role
This new position involves a range of accountancy and finance tasks, including bookkeeping, payroll processing, and support with general accounts. As an integral part of the finance team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payroll operations, and ensuring the timely submission of key financial reports.
While this role does not involve travel, full attendance at our Dalgety office is essential. It's ideal for someone who values structure, clear processes, and the satisfaction of keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations, purchase/sales ledger, and journal entries
* Support processing weekly and monthly payroll, including RTI submissions and pension contributions
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Supporting general accountancy tasks such as trial balance preparation and end-of-year documentation
* Liaising with clients on finance-related queries as needed
* Maintaining accurate and well-organised records using cloud-based accounting systems
* Providing cover for the payroll management during holidays and periods of leave
Key Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping or finance role
* Solid knowledge of payroll and HMRC reporting requirements
* Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.)
* Strong Excel skills and good general IT confidence
* Highly organised with a methodical, detail-focused approach
* Clear communicator who enjoys working as part of a small and friendly team
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
