Associate Director - Structural Engineer (Equity Ownership)

We are seeking a highly experienced and ambitious Associate Director (Structural Engineer) for a rare opportunity leading to a senior management board level Directorship position (with equity ownership) within five years. The successful candidate will be expected to lead design teams, run projects and have the gravitas to engage directly with C suite level clients. This well-established Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy based in the UK offers a comprehensive range of consultancy services across various market sectors including commercial, industrial, retail, residential, and infrastructure with project values up to £35M. With a team of experienced professionals, they pride themselves on delivering flexible, tailored solutions to meet our clients' specific needs.
Role Overview:
Collaborate with company directors on technical and management control of projects in various sectors, including commercial, retail, offices, industrial, leisure, and education, with project values up to £35M.
Attend and contribute to meetings with clients, architects, subcontractors, and other professionals, representing the company professionally.
Support teams with site visits to monitor progress, ensuring specifications are met and addressing any issues with contractors, clients, or project managers.
Produce and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports created by team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with directors to co-lead the design team and manage projects.
Act as a client-facing representative, fostering strong relationships.
Mentor junior staff, aiding their professional development.
Maintain oversight of entire projects, ensuring detailed design focus is appropriate.
Utilise design tools such as Tedds, Tekla, and Masterseries.
Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD is advantageous but not essential.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in structural engineering design.
Ideally Chartered or Incorporated with IStructE, although significant project experience is also valued.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and mentor junior staff.
Proficiency in maintaining project oversight and detailed design focus.
