We are seeking a volunteer Fundraising & Development Officer to help secure sustainable funding, strengthen partnerships and build a practical fundraising strategy.
What will you be doing?
In close partnership with our CEO, Melissa Francis, you will research and write grant applications, develop a short‑term fundraising plan, maintain donor records and support impact reporting. Your work will free up time for our CEO and small team to focus on community delivery while ensuring that BTG remains a lifeline for digitally excluded residents in Hackney and beyond.

* Support bid writing and funding applications – draft clear, persuasive proposals with CEO guidance.
* Develop a simple fundraising strategy – create a short‑term and long‑term plan to diversify income.
* Assist with donor and partner relations – maintain records, monitor deadlines and support follow‑ups.
* Contribute to impact reporting – collect and present data, stories and feedback that demonstrate our social impact.
* Support digital fundraising campaigns – promote BTG’s appeals through our online channels.
Essential Qualities
* Empathy and a strong belief in BTG’s mission to reduce digital exclusion.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Organised, proactive and reliable.
* Able to work independently while keeping good communication with the team.
* Comfortable using basic online tools (e.g., email, Word, Google Docs, Excel).
* Willingness to learn about grant processes, community needs and impact reporting.
Desirable Experience
* Previous involvement in fundraising, bid writing or community projects.
* Experience with data management, research or communications.
* Understanding of social issues such as digital poverty, inclusion or cost‑of‑living challenges.
Key Deliverables
* At least 2–3 funding opportunities identified and tracked each month.
* Contributions to 1–2 funding bids or partnership proposals per quarter.
* A simple, practical fundraising plan or timeline developed with the CEO.
* Support in producing quarterly impact or progress summaries.
