Your Role and Responsibilities
As our Drainage and Water Design Team Leader, you will:
* Lead a talented team in delivering high-quality, compliant, and sustainable solutions for transportation projects.
* Act as the technical and delivery lead for assigned work packages, ensuring designs meet programme, budget, and risk commitments.
* Collaborate closely with the Design Manager and wider Kier Design teams to enhance team capability and ensure consistent delivery.
* Foster strong relationships with internal and external clients, providing a reliable, value-driven service.
Your Day-to-Day
Your daily tasks will include:
* Accountability for leading the Transportation Drainage & Water team to deliver work packages on time and within budget.
* Implementing process improvements and encouraging technical innovation in highway drainage and flood risk management.
* Ensuring compliance with DMRB, LLFA, and local authority standards while maintaining robust project governance.
* Building and maintaining relationships with Local Authorities, LLFAs, and utilities to ensure clear communication and confidence in delivery.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you have:
* Proven experience leading and developing design teams (7–14 members), with strong management skills in programmes, budgets, and risks.
* Experience managing clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and positive outcomes.
* Practical knowledge of DMRB, LLFA requirements, and local authority standards.
* A solid understanding of SUDS, Planning Policy, and flood risk strategy approvals.
* A full driving license and a willingness to travel as required.
Working Conditions
Location: Salford (remote working available with occasional office travel required)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexibility on hours available)
