Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Payroll professional located in the in Wellingborough, United Kingdom. The Senior Payroll role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant payroll processing for a diverse client base including payroll administration, payroll services, payroll taxes, and payroll processing on a day-to-day basis.

How you will contribute

* Work within a small team managing approximately 170 payrolls, ranging from 1 to 70 employees
* Process payrolls on a monthly, weekly, four-weekly, and fortnightly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Set up and close payroll schemes efficiently, ensuring smooth transitions for businesses
* Handle pension scheme setups, manage auto-enrollment duties, and oversee pension contribution uploads
* Prepare and submit CIS reports, ensuring subcontractor payments comply with HMRC regulations
* Conduct CIS subcontractor verifications to maintain accurate tax records and compliance
* Liaise with HM Revenue and Customs, handling payroll-related queries and submissions
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance
* Act as the key point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing expert advice and resolving any issues
* Support payroll audits, ensure accuracy in documentation, and contribute to process improvements for efficiency


What will you bring?

* Good knowledge of payroll systems and processes, ensuring efficient payroll management across various frequencies.
* Understanding of Auto-enrolment compliance, including pension scheme setup and ongoing duties.
* Experience with New Starter and Leaver processes, ensuring accurate payroll adjustments and submissions.
* Familiarity with CIS reporting and subcontractor verification to maintain compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Basic knowledge of relevant payroll software, preferably BrightPay, with the ability to adapt to new systems as required.
* Strong communication skills to effectively address payroll-related queries from clients and liaise with HMRC when necessary.
* Attention to detail and a methodical approach to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations, reporting, and compliance.
* Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion, maintaining client trust and data security.
* Understanding of manual payroll calculations, including deductions for Tax, National Insurance, and statutory payments.
* Proactive approach to staying updated on payroll legislation changes and implementing necessary updates in practice.


Role: Full time – Senior Payroll

Salary: depending upon experience

Working hours: Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm with one hour lunch break.
