Join to apply for the Consultant Medical Oncologist role at NHS. We have a vacancy for a full-time substantive (10 PA) Medical Oncology Consultant to join the Oncology team at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. You will preferably demonstrate an interest in Upper GI and Colorectal Cancer and will share acute oncology duties with the rest of the consultant team. Applicants who are seeking to work part-time or flexibly will also be considered.
Main duties and duties scope
This post represents a career opportunity to work with the Oncology Consultants and the wider cancer multidisciplinary team. You would:
* Work in the two tumour sites of upper GI and colorectal cancer, in partnership with the current UHMB oncology team and visiting Clinical Oncologists from Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
* Be involved in ongoing research and have the opportunity to act as Principal Investigator for trials in your areas of interest.
* Contribute to the acute oncology inpatient service in UHMB and collaborate with the acute oncology ANP team.
* Work across UHMB sites (Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital and Furness General Hospital) as part of a pan-UHMB appointment; SACT is given at all three sites; acute oncology and inpatient services are primarily at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital.
* There is currently no on-call commitment associated with the post.
Location
The job is a pan-UHMB appointment across the three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus related community sites.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC registration and licence to practise. Specialist Registration within Medical Oncology, or within 6 months of award at time of interview. Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology or equivalent recognised training.

* MD or PhD degree

* Broad exposure to management of cancer.
Desirable
* Experience in the specified tumour sites and experience of Acute Oncology.
Research, Education and Leadership
Essential
* Evidence of audit and implementation of change following audit. Ability to supervise junior doctors to plan and conduct research and audit projects.

* Relevant research published in peer-reviewed journals.
Education and Teaching
* Experience of teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and junior medical staff; supervision of staff in other disciplines.
Desirable
* Attendance at educational skills or teaching courses.
