Responsibilities
* Support someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
* Reassure a parent whose child has had a minor head injury.
* Assist someone with a sore throat or toothache.
* Respond calmly and effectively to someone having a stroke or heart attack.
* Handle a wide variety of calls—no two days are ever the same. This role requires emotional resilience and the ability to manage the pressures that come with supporting people in often stressful or distressing situations.
* Take care of yourself and the team around you; maintain high well‑being and supportive teamwork.
Important Information
* This is an office‑based position at our Otterbourne location—remote or home working is not available.
* This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
* Fixed part‑time rotas are available based on current service needs (see attached).
* We're currently welcoming new team members for our upcoming training courses in October and November.
Qualifications – Essential
* Good all‑round education (e.g., 2 GCSEs at the equivalent of grade 4 or above, including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role.
* Experience in a customer‑/patient‑services environment, dealing with the members of the general public.
* Experience of using a computerised system.
* Experience of using a telephone as a regular means of communication in a work environment.
* Experience of working rotating shifts.
Qualifications – Desirable
* NHS Pathways Trained.
* NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Experience in a call centre environment.
* Geographical knowledge of the operational area.
* Previous experience of working in the voluntary or health sector.
* Previous experience of patient care.
* Knowledge of first aid and/or anatomy.

* Full 6‑week training programme including NHS Pathways (the clinical assessment tool we use).
* Competitive hourly rate of £11.70 per hour plus allowances.
* Pay plus 35% for daytime Saturday (midnight to midnight) and before 6 am; plus 35% for daytime Saturday.
* Pay plus 69% for daytime Sunday and public holidays (midnight to midnight).

Salary and Contract
* Band 3 salary: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum pro‑rata, per annum.
