Main Purpose of the Role:
This apprenticeship position is designed to support the Health & Safety Manager with essential administrative tasks that contribute to the effective management of health, safety, and environmental processes across the site. The role also offers exposure to wider operational areas such as Quality, SP&D (Strategy, Planning & Development), and Continuous Improvement (CI), providing a comprehensive introduction to manufacturing operations.
While gaining valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, the apprentice will work towards a nationally recognised qualification in Business Administration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Health & Safety Manager, including record-keeping, report compilation, and action tracking.
2. Manage document control for policies, procedures, and safety communications.
3. Maintain and update Health & Safety training records, and assist with scheduling mandatory training sessions.
4. Log and monitor incidents, near misses, and associated follow-up actions using internal systems.
5. Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and other engagement activities.
6. Offer general administrative support to the Quality, SP&D, and CI teams as needed.
7. Contribute to projects aimed at improving workplace safety.
8. Complete both on-the-job and off-the-job learning components required for the apprenticeship qualification.
Minimum Qualifications:
* 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including Maths and English.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn and work towards a formal qualification.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* A genuine interest in Health & Safety or manufacturing operations.
* Previous work or voluntary experience in an office or industrial environment.
* Familiarity with CAD, Google Classroom, or similar systems.
Work Schedule:
4 days on site, 1 day release at college (NVQ Level 2 Business Administration). Year 2: 4 days on site, 1 day release at college (NVQ Level 3 Business Administration). There is potential to pursue industry-recognised Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
