To be successful as a Platform Engineering Lead, you should have experience with:
* Engineering excellence and technical leadership: Hands-on engineer with a deep passion for modern technologies and methodologies. Proven track record of delivering world-class engineering solutions within complex enterprise domains. Experience in Java or equivalent. Exposure to polyglot programming languages and willingness to adapt and dive into other languages as needed.
* Cloud and scalable infrastructure: Expertise in AWS core services and infrastructure as code. Skilled in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure platform infrastructure. Passion for working in complex technical domains.
* DevOps and automation: Strong experience with DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab), containerization (Docker), and orchestration technologies. Commitment to automation, efficiency, and delivering high-quality, developer-friendly solutions.
Additional valued skills include:
* Extensive experience deploying and operating SaaS products on-premise, with a deep understanding of SRE principles and expertise in monitoring and observability tools like ELK and AWS CloudWatch. Knowledge of configuration management tools like Chef.
* Understanding of Agile practices and experience working in dynamic, Scrum-based teams. Proficient in SDLC practices.
* AWS certifications.
This role will be based in our Glasgow office.
Purpose of the role: To design, develop, and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

* Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, devise solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
* Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of quality and knowledge sharing.
* Stay informed of industry trends and contribute to technology communities within the organization.
* Follow secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect data.
* Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code quality and reliability.
