As PMO Lead, you will own the programme governance, reporting, and delivery assurance framework across the Royal Navy’s digital transformation portfolio. You will ensure that multiple delivery teams operate with consistency, transparency, and high-quality standards — enabling programme managers and senior stakeholders to make informed decisions. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational capability, and deep experience establishing and running PMOs within complex, multi-disciplinary digital environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain the overall PMO framework, including governance, reporting cycles, RAID management, and quality assurance.
* Ensure consistent processes are adopted across all workstreams within the DNA portfolio.
* Provide delivery assurance and support to Program Managers and Delivery Leads.
* Maintain oversight of delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, and cross-team impacts.
* Coordinate the roadmap, portfolio pipeline, and prioritisation processes.
* Track progress against Navy transformation objectives, ensuring alignment with strategic outcomes.
* Manage consolidated portfolio reporting for senior Royal Navy and MOD stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a trusted partner to Programme Managers, Royal Navy leadership, and Digi2al senior stakeholders.
* Communicate risks, issues, and overall programme health clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Facilitate key governance forums, steering groups, and decision‑making sessions.
Data, Tools & Delivery Insights
* Lead the design and upkeep of dashboards, KPIs, and evidence‑based reporting.
* Ensure delivery data is accurate, timely, and actionable.
* Champion modern PMO tooling and practices across the portfolio.
* Mentor and guide PMO Analysts or Coordinators as the function grows.
* Embed a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the PMO.
Top 3 requirements for this role
* Proven experience leading PMOs within digital transformation or technology delivery environments.
* Strong understanding of Agile and hybrid delivery models across multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
Experience
Must haves:
* Experience supporting programmes with multiple simultaneous workstreams.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships across senior defence or government stakeholders.
* Expertise in managing RAID processes, governance structures, and portfolio reporting.
Nice to haves:
* Strong experience with Monday.com — including board design, workflow automation, dashboards, and portfolio‑level reporting.
* Experience working within defence, security, or government programmes.
* Knowledge of MOD delivery standards and secure delivery environments.
* Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Power BI.
* Understanding of user‑centred design, modern engineering practices, and digital delivery approaches (aligned with Digi2al’s delivery ethos).
