Project Engineer : Lichfield : Up to A GBP 30/hr LTD : Outside IR35 : Long term contract role
Our client is a UK:based supplier of advanced propulsion components for defence platforms, supporting key projects with mission:critical technology.
We are seeking a hands:on Project Engineer to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of engineering and manufacturing projects. This is a delivery:focused role, ideal for a technically proficient engineer with solid project coordination experience, particularly in the defence, aerospace, or high:integrity manufacturing sectors.
You will act as the central interface between internal engineering teams, buyers, suppliers, and customers:ensuring projects are delivered to specification, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and manage day:to:day activities across the supply chain to ensure project milestones are achieved.
* Work closely with buyers and procurement teams to monitor and support supplier performance.
* Maintain and update project timelines using Gantt charts and other planning tools.
* Liaise with customers on project status, reviews, and progress updates.
* Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures and customer contractual requirements.
* Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and track actions to resolution.
* Collaborate with cross:functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement).
* Support configuration control and documentation processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering (Degree desirable but not essential).
* Demonstrable experience as a Project Engineer or Project Coordinator in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Previous exposure to defence, military, aerospace, or automotive sectors preferred.
* Working knowledge of supply chain processes and working with external suppliers.
* Experience using Gantt charts and project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel).
* Understanding of MoD/defence industry expectations around procurement, traceability, and delivery.
* Strong communication skills with a professional and confident manner.
* Team:oriented, adaptable, and willing to travel occasionally to customer or supplier sites.
* Experience in delivering projects with cost, time, and quality constraints.
