About Hair & Care
Based in Hackney, Hair & Care is a groundbreaking non-profit advocating for improved inclusion and accessibility within the hair, beauty and fashion industries for the sight loss community.
Our work spans community and industry levels: from delivering free, community-based hair workshops for blind and low vision women and girls, to collaborating with international Fashion Weeks to create accessible experiences for blind and low vision audiences.
Internship Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and highly organised Studio Assistant Intern to support the team across workshops, special projects and the day-to-day running of our studio.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone interested in fashion, beauty, social impact and creative production, with the opportunity to gain experience across operations, events, marketing and PR.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the planning and delivery of community hair workshops
* Assisting with stock management, checks and ordering
* Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming studio environment
* Assisting across marketing, PR and content creation
* Supporting events and special projects, including fundraisers and Fashion Week shows
Role Details
* Freelance internship: part-time or full-time (3–5 days per week)
* Duration: 3–6 months, with potential to progress into a paid full-time role
* Location: London-based, working from our Hackney studio
* Start date: Immediate
* Reimbursement: Travel and expenses covered
Requirements / Preferred Skills
* Proficient in Google Workspace; familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Instagram, TikTok and Wix (Trello a plus)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
* Adaptable and proactive, comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
* Creative and ideas-driven, with an interest in fashion, branding and visual storytelling
* PR and/or marketing experience preferred but not essential
* Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn
* Passionate about supporting a purpose-led organisation
* Positive, collaborative team player with a can-do attitude
