Hours: 40 hours per week, Tuesday Saturday normally 0830 1700 (flexible start/finish) Salary: Competitive, dependant on experience Reports to: Head of Supply Chain Location: Dungannon The Role As Despatch Manager, you will take a hands-on lead in the day-to-day running of despatch and distribution operations, ensuring products are stored, handled, and delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. You will work closely with your teams to manage transport, stock, and service levels within a fast-paced fresh produce and value-added manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong operational presence, the ability to make real-time decisions, and a practical approach to problem-solving, while consistently maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and health and safety compliance. Key Responsibilities Maintain a strong, visible presence across despatch and storage areas, supporting Supervisors and teams to deliver daily operational plans safely and efficiently. Lead, coach, and develop despatch teams, ensuring the right structure, capability, and resource levels are in place to meet daily and seasonal demand. Manage daily transport planning and execution, liaising directly with hauliers and resolving delivery issues promptly and effectively. Ensure all customer orders are accurately picked, checked, and dispatched on time, meeting agreed service level agreements through effective use of the onsite ERP system. Monitor service performance metrics (including OTIF and delivery accuracy), responding proactively to issues and driving immediate corrective action. Maintain full compliance with Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, customer standards, and certification requirements, including traceability, segregation, and allergen controls. Oversee chilled storage operations, ensuring effective stock rotation, stock accuracy, and completion of physical stock checks. Lead investigations into quality, food safety, service failures, and customer complaints, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions. Ensure despatch and storage areas are consistently clean, organised, and audit-ready. Promote and embed a strong Health and Safety culture, ensuring safe systems of work and daily team engagement. Contribute to daily and weekly KPI reviews, operational meetings, and wider site performance discussions. Act as the primary point of contact for despatch operations, escalating risks and operational issues as appropriate. Essential Criteria Experience working within a temperature-controlled or short shelf-life product environment. Knowledge of stock control systems, WMS, or ERP systems. Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management. Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives within a despatch or warehouse function. Understanding of retailer compliance standards and service level agreements (SLAs). Experience managing budgets, labour planning, and cost control within an operational environment. Formal Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or equivalent). Flexibility to work varying shifts in line with operational requirements. Desirable Criteria Understanding of retailer compliance standards and SLAs. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH).
