Primary Responsibilities
•Lead testing for the functional waterfall test stages System and Regression Test of Connected Systems (STRC), Point to Point, UAT, Automation
•Manage the day-to-day work of the test analysts/SMEs working on these stages.
•Agree the approach, scope and produce the test plans and reports for these stages.
•Estimate for and agree resource requirements for assigned test stages working with the Test and Business Teams to ensure they are fulfilled.
•Co-ordinate the STRC testing of connected systems, ensuring test scripts and results are of the required quality, providing them back to the SCRUM teams and other stakeholders for review, identifying, raising and working with the teams to resolve any quality issues.
•Work with the PM and SCRUM teams to ensure support required from SMEs is planned for and provided including ensuring appropriate user stories are added to the backlogs.
•Monitor test preparation and execution to ensure that test scripts, evidence, results and defects are produced to the right standard defining and assuring the implementation of any corrective action required.
•Manages external dependencies ensuring that the requirements of the Test and SCRUM teams are understood and fulfilled (including environments, data and support resource).
•Work with the Agile Test Lead feeding date and scope changes back into the SCRUM teams.
•Ensure a common/standard approach to testing and defect management across all teams is defined, documented and followed, refining as required to meet changing delivery demands.
•Define and implement a standard set of test progress reports/dashboards using JIRA, Excel and Power BI making test preparation and execution progress and solution quality visible to stakeholders and in accordance with their requirements.
•Work with release and config management to understand the scope of changes and defect fixes and work with the PMs and testers to plan appropriate regression tests as needed in response to defect fixes and new product releases.
•Monitor test preparation and execution of all Functional Test Stages (including Agile) to ensure that test scripts, evidence, results and defects are produced to the right standard defining and assuring the implementation of any corrective action required.
•Work with the Business Analysts and Architects in the Quality Assurance team to assure scope and coverage of SIT is correct.
Secondary Responsibilities
•Work with the Business Analysts to ensure that requirements traceability is established as required (in JIRA)
•Feed into the Testing Workstream project plan
•Monitor "test readiness" working with external and internal teams to identify all items required to start testing and monitor and report on readiness.
•Support other test stages as required.
•Stand-in for the Defect Manager as required and ensure the defect management process is followed and host/lead defect triage meetings and manage defects through the life cycle escalating as required.
•Deputise for the Functional Test Manager as required
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
•5+ years of Experience leading SIT and UAT in customer facing test stages across both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
•Strong test planning (Microsoft Project), estimation, design, development, documentation and defect management skills.
•Experience using JIRA and XRAY Test Management for Test and Defect Management (JQL Scripting) and test status/dashboard reporting, using Excel and/or Power BI (or similar) to produce reports that cannot be produced in JIRA.
•Good testing and Quality Assurance experience with practical experience of implementing processes across both client and supplier teams.
•Excellent problem-solving skills able to adapt approach to overcome delivery challenges.
•Strong communication and teamworking skills, able to communicate technical and testing concepts to various stakeholders effectively.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
•Good knowledge of SCADA and Real-Time Control and NMS (Network Monitoring Systems) preferably OSI Aspentech / DGM Products although comparable Industry Product experience will be considered.
•Oracle MFT and Mulesoft APIs experience
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power systems and control systems engineering (e.g., IEC101, IEC104, GI74, IEC 61850, IEEE standards).
